CocoaPods is a dependency manager for Swift and Objective-C Cocoa projects. It has over 90 thousand libraries and is used in over 3 million apps. CocoaPods can help you scale your projects elegantly.
Install Instructions
  • On the mac, using the default Ruby available you can use sudo in the terminal.
sudo gem install cocoapods
  • If an error occurs (possibly from Beta MacOS or Xcode software or a bug), you can attempt to uninstall and reinstall CocoaPods:
gem uninstall cocoapods
gem install cocoapods
Usage
  • Now that you have CocoaPods installed, lets start added pods.
  • To begin, from the terminal navigate to your project's main directory and run:
$ pod init
  • This will create a Podfile for you to add your pods to.
  • Once this Podfile has been created, open the file and add pods following the template below:
target 'MyApp' do
pod 'PODNAME'
end
  • Pods can be found in the main Swift section of CodeLibraries.com such as Alamofire, SwiftyJSON and more!
  • Finally, back in the terminal run:
$ pod install
